ABLM/IBLM co-certified Lifestyle Medicine physicians from the US must have and maintain primary ABMS board certification, while physicians from Canada must maintain their license to practice. Board certification in Lifestyle Medicine increases competency in your primary field of practice.  Board certification is intended to ensure that physicians have attained a certain level of expertise and competency in their chosen field. Physicians are expected to practice within the scope of their primary board certification or medical licensure to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
